The Penguins played their first home preseason game tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks. The penguins would start Marc-Andre Fleury in net. The Blackhawks would start Lars Johansson. The first period would be scoreless and no penalties. Penguins had 13 shots to Chicago’s 7 i n the period
Scott Wilson would score 15 seconds into the 2nd period to give the penguins a 1-0 lead. Conor Sheary and Eric Fehr with the assists. At 2:15 the Penguins Steve Oleksy and Blackhawks Ryan Hartman would get into a scrap and would each get 5 minute penalties. The Blackhawks Michal Kempny would get a High Sticking penalty at 9:19. The Blackhawks would change goalies, with Mac Carruth taking over between the pipes. The Penguins Steve Oleksy would go back to the box at 16:06 for Interference. The Blackhawks Ryan Hartman would also make a second trip to the box at 16:50 for interference. The Blackhawks would have 10 shots in the period to Pittsburgh’s 7. The Penguins Derrick Pouliot would get called for Interference at 7:12 of the 3rd. Marc-Andre Fleury for get the shutout making 24 saves. Johansson made 18 saves on 19 shots and Carruth would all 9 saves in his effort . Penguins next Preseason game is Sunday in Columbus against the Blue Jackets
